Cardinals-Pirates battle in pivitol three game series

The Saint Louis Cardinals (70-57) and Pittsburgh Pirates (68-59) open up a crucial three game series starting tonight in a series' matchup that has major implications for the National League's final Wild Card spot.

The defending champion St. Louis Cardinals are still in contention to catch the first-place Cincinnati Reds for the Central division crown--but holding off the Pirates, who are just two games behind the Cardinals for the Wild Card, is still a current concern that can't be taken lightly.
